Protect Our Police Initiative
As part of his very successful Blue Ribbon Campaign on behalf of police officers in the Carolinas, host Jeff Katz has announced a grass-roots effort to change the law in North Carolina relating to assault on a police officer. Current law classifies aggravated assault on police as a misdemeanor, and Katz hopes that his POP (Protect Our Police) initiative will force the state legislature to reclassify the crime as a felony. Stay tuned to hear how you can help. Katz playfully points out, and sadly, that kicking a dog is a felony but kicking a cop is not. The fact that police are not given the extra protection and threat of a longer term if assaulted is just not a message I want to send to those who protect my kids.

Since Cops already have more protection than citizens (dogs are not citizens yet I think) why do they need more? Just the bruises resulting from assaulting a Cop will persuade most people not to try it again!
