The elction is decided by dumb people.

I realized tonight that the polls tend to show the trends and determine who will represent the two major parties. The independent and often very informed voters end up having to choose the lesser of two evils almost every election.

If you vote for a candidate expected to get 1-5% of the vote you are “wasting your vote” many would say.

This means you are forced to vote for one of the two candidates that marketed the best and convinced the most uneducated and easily swayed people. It is hard to coordinate rebelious voting well enough to get a winning percentage.
The polls swing 5-10% all the time prior to election, and this is the result of media, marketing and public perception of the candidates.

People easily swayed or basing choices on marketing and public perception are the lowest form of voter. These are the stooges who think “hes pretty smart I guess” or “that candidate is one tough guy!” This kind of “american Idol” level of intelligence will make up the winning margin almost every 4 years.

The polls are largely based on the people who make decision based on the media, and the smart voter is handcuffed to the highest polled candidates.

This seems to be how the media and money owns the office of president of the United States. This is the circle that can only be broken by an amazinglky effective independent candidate who can grassroots market like a sales machine.

It really will require a movement to steal back the office that governs us from the marketers and the idiots they influence to vote based on image.
