McCain Battles His Failure
So in an article entitled McCain Battles silent amnesty located at the tucsoncitizen.com we get a nice bias piece or irony posing as reporting.
I must also laugh aloud at the name of their paper. The Tucson Citizen is a bit of an Oxymoron? Are their any Citizen’s left in Tucson?
RUBEN NAVARRETTE JR. gives us an “article” that shows exactly what he supports despite how empty all arguments he makes for McCains stance are.
“McCain has been both correct and courageous. But now he has made it clear that he’s not going to be anyone’s punching bag.”
75% of the nation doesn’t think hes correct, but of course in Tucson this number may be different since the poll would be about half illegals who may benefit from McCain’s goal of selling citizenship.
McCain is correct about the need for comprehensive immigration reform as opposed to what’s behind door No. 2: the “faith-based” enforcement-only approach of building walls, hoping illegal immigrants self-deport and calling it a day. Congress did something similar with immigration reform in 1996…all we have to show for it is a population of illegal immigrants nearly twice as large now as it was then.
This is why we dont need another useless bill that hands out citizenship to criminal aliens. You are completely incorrect in your statement that “Congress did something”. The problem has never been the law, it has always been lack of enforcing the law.
What does amnesty have to do with building a “technological fence”, Why cant the fence be built without “z-visas” and “work permission”?
If they are promising to protect the border, then just do it now under current laws. There is no connection on why the curent laws wouldnt be working if they enforced the law.
And here is where you just dont get it Senor Naverrette, McCain is a senator, he is the one that made the past laws, and now he is aparty to never enforcing them. There is no silent amnesty by us the citizens, He is the one never enforcing current laws.
He voted and helped establish the CURRENT LAWS, so if they are never enforced then he is the reason. Why is he blaming anyone but himself and others for allowing the illegals to double in number?
And McCain is courageous for confronting the nativist fringe of his own party
Nativist? I think the term you are looking for is Citizen. Is there some reason a citizen cant ask that his or her country be respected? I think you forget who is breaking the laws and who on the other hand is just asking the laws be enforced.
The laws that John McCain helped create that he now pretends dont exist. There are laws that would work if enforced.
“Pandering for votes on this issue, while offering no solution to the problem, amounts to doing nothing. And doing nothing is silent amnesty.”
Remember that phrase. Silent amnesty. McCain is right again.
How funny that McCain would accuse anyone else of pandering for votes.
He forgets that he could spend his time in congress fighting to enforce the laws that he halped wirte in the past. Why would anyone trust any senator that pretends his own past laws written by the senate dont exist?
(IF he ever showed up to vote, McCain has the highest absentee rate of any senator)
If Congress ultimately fails to enact meaningful immigration reform, the world won’t end for illegal immigrants. They’ll still wake up at 4 the next morning and go to work just like the day before. Nothing will change. No one will be fined or brought into the system, or held accountable in any way. That’s amnesty.
Very dramatic stuff, but this is the life choice of criminals, to pretend the past crimes never happened is amnesty. When you broke a law that is clearly on the books, then a government official offers a way for you to erase all past record of your crimes,…that is the definition of amnesty.
On the other hand if congress did there job and pushed to enforce current laws and build this “great fence” they keep talking about, that would not be amnesty.
McCain also continues to jab at the incendiary Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., an illegal-immigration foe who has been tagged a nativist and a “know-nothing” by fellow Republicans.
38 - 7 the senate vote went, so it looks like Republicans seem to agree with Tancredo over McCain’s “amnesty for 10 million illegals plan”. Nice try though Senor Naverrette.
I find it sad that people put there own family ancestory first when writing articles like this trash. This is a great example of why people dont want to give amnesty to people who dont look to assimilate. If you put your own race based goals ahead of what is clearly best for the country then you are not America as your actions look to divide the nations best interests.
If you want laws bent and changed for your own ethnic group unfairly, then that is the definition of dividing a nation and special interest race based legislation.
I offer this to Senor Naverrette.
Provide me with one single argument why Americans need this amnesty.
And you dont get to use the deflection of racism, price of lettuce, “the shadows”, or any other make-believe reason we should give away citizenship.
How do Americans benefit from this Amnesty, just one good reason, and then we can pretend McCain is doing ANYTHING other than trying to buy votes by selling citizenship.

Good article! Illegal Immigration is a do it yourself project. If you do not do it no one else will.
