Gangs & Jessica’s Law, what do they have in common?

From Washington to Raleigh our lawmakers do not want to deal with the prison’s problems. Cause of what it will cost them to fully correct and handle the situations, another words a mess.

This is one of the main reasons that Jessica’s Law meets with adversity by our North Carolina Legislators. The same idolize of thinking is shown in Washington toward Gang Problems.

Example 1 Washington: Various people lobbied for the proposed Street Gang Prevention Act. The proposed act would increase jail time for gang – related crimes by gang members. They have met with another proposal have programs and committees.

Example 2 Raleigh: A large group of people for several years have lobbied for Jessica’s Law for North Carolina. The law would increase jail time on sex offenders well as stiff penalties. Our legislators say, it’s too costly and the additional cost is a concern toward prison cost the state would endure. We have made progress with changes toward North Carolina laws toward sex offenders. We want programs to help rehabilitate sex offenders and have a committee look into other programs.

In Charlotte our city and county leaders do the same as well. They scream and yell about Raleigh or Washington regarding lack of laws, funding, and overcrowdings of prisons. When they can set up to the plate and do something the arts, development take preference. North Carolina Representative Russell Capps and County Commissioner Bill James have voiced their concerns and thoughts more than once.

We are reaping what has been sown by our local, state and federal government!

If they would leave the criminals in jail for a LOOOONNNNGGG time, crime would decrease. I believe I’ve read that most of the crime is committed by the same criminals, over and over again.

    Also, longer sentences would deter.

They have made progress on laws regarding sex crimes, but not enough.

As a mother of a 14 year old who was abducted, held for days and forced to prostitute, (in Mississippi) and nothing was done to the perpetrators, all grown men from 18 to 50+, I believe that men have to be held accountable for sex with anyone under 18. The men (and I do say ‘men’ lightly) all said that she told them she was 18. The police dpt. discouraged us from continuing with the case, as they said (and prosecutor concurred) that they would drag it out for years, and we would have to keep flying back to MS for court dates that would be cancelled at the last minute.

If you have to ask for ID for cigarettes, you should have to ask for ID for sex!!!

Underage sex does huge harm to the females, and to our society, such as poverty, mental instability, inability to commit to relationships which causes harm to a healthy family and society, child abuse, disease, cost to health care, etc. The cycle is spiraling down!

The laws have to be even stronger, and men have to take responsibility for uncontrolled sex drives.

I find it hard to understand the protection of our children is less important than protection of another country. Do I blame George Bush, No I blame everyone of us who do not vote, who do not support schools function, all kids activates. Stop dropping off and stay and protect, for your child and the next child…These so call Men are grown up. Why not help to prevent while they are childern, so they will not become those so Call sex offenders. As for the little time given just think that sex offender receive 5, 7, maybe 10 year, but victim are sentence for life….
