International House Of Pancakes
Dear Sheriff Jim Pendergraph,
As I have two young kids I was only able to get about one hour off from the kids to grab a breakfast with my wife on Independence day.
We wanted to goto Perkins, as we love it for casual breakfast, but there are none in Charlotte.
We ended up having to go to IHOP or “International House Of Pancakes”.
Like I said we only had an hour and this is near my house in the Grande Promenade on WT HARRIS. In case you wish to go there and see what I speak of in this article.
It is also right next to the DMV building which tends to have about 6 state troppers parked in it at any one time. So if these state troopers park their they must also eat there on occassion.
The irony is that when we woke up on American Independence Day my wife said “Vamos, Yo Queiro American Breakfast.” (Lets go, I want American Breakfast).
American Breakfast is what eggs, sausage, bacon and toast is called in South America. What we call hot breakfast they would call “American Breakfast”.
I thought this is even more ironic than ever in this story coupled with it being independence day. It seems that in America on Independence day and eating “America style breakfast” are a foreign issue.
The irony came like shotgun when we arrived at IHOP on WT Harris, to see that “international” is not just a catchy name.
While I wont get into too much guessing, I am pretty certain that IHOP does not apply for Work Visas for the wait and bus staff.
I also know that english proficiency is a part of citizenship, so I can rule that possibility out for at least a half dozen of the staff there that day.
I am sure they are doing a great job, aided by the menus at IHOP which appear in two languages and the fact that the interstaff communication was not in english.
Again this is not a language issue for us, as we speak spanish, but it was another obvious everyday example of laws not being enforced here in Charlotte.
This wouldn’t be news on most days, but here on Independence day I was beginning to feel we may have not won all those border wars after all?
This article can be a rebutt to John McCains lies about the “hiding in the shadows”.
All in all my “American Breakfast” was ok, though the toast was dry.
I can’t say I blame anyone there for not knowing the best way to make what my wife calls “American Breakfast”, since the main prerequisite may have been lacking.
I have since this time noticed that the Ihop on exit 25 in Huntersville has a huge sign saying they are hiring as well.
I would be interested to see what a planted police applicant with no documents would discover.
Unless of course they are offering work visas for 40 yr old busboys?
If Sheriff Jim Pendergraf wants to contact us on this page, I would be happy to meet him at Ihop and treat him to a hot fresh “American Breakfast”.
I have both a brother and a sister who serve in New York Sheriff’s departments, so I would love the company and to get a professional opinion from the one person in Charlotte law enforcement brass that may actually care.

Did you ask to see their papers? How do you know they’re illegal immigrants?
There’s many LEGAL Hispanic immigrants who speak Spanish as their first language! Speaking English is not required to immigrate to the U.S., only to become a naturalized citizen.
All of my friends are hispanic as well, so dont try that angle please. We both know what we would find if all employees were checked, so why mix words with you trying to make me out as a racist.
“While I wont get into too much guessing, I am pretty certain that IHOP does not apply for Work Visas for the wait and bus staff. ”
You and I both know my assertion is correct, so dont pretend. Then if I ask and find out im right, id be profiling.
No work visas for busboys, not students, not tourists, not citizens or having the required proficiency in english as stated is required.
I dont go around trying my hardest to be blind of common sense as you are now.
Those legal immigrants that speak spanish you refer to, are my family. Some of which speak only spanish.
So I know ever job they attend is loaded with illegals. I know because we are elbow up to them.
One works at Frye Electric in Charlotte, which has install crews for homes electrical that is completely illegal but about 3 employees, one of which is my family. They got threatened with a raid and the boss told them he would call them at home and warn them not to come in when it happened.
I was also told they have periodic random drug tests as a way to fire the black and other legal employees, but keep the illegals on staff (for less).
The other in my family works for BIC pen company off Harris, she and about 3 other legal, the rest not of about 100.
So dont try that weak PC angle with me
That always ends the race card real quick around here.
I’ve just stumbled upon the account of your “American Breakfast” at IHOP. Please make contact with me as I would like to become involved in combating illegality when it comes to immigration.
Of the last 37 years I’ve only lived the last 7 here in the USA. I speak Spanish and Portuguese fluently, the result of living in South America for more than 20 years. I thought that returning to the USA I would finally leave behind the “in your face” corruption of Latin America but instead I feel like Latin American corruption has made big in-roads into American society and government.
My wife is Brazilian. It bothers me to no end that while it took me eight months to bring her here legally, I’m surrounded by people who, when it came time to make a major decision about improving their lives, made conscious decisions to brake the laws of our country and come here illegally. That, of course, doesn’t bother me nearly so much as seeing that there are so many who have so much to gain by allowing this situation to remain as it is instead of taking action to reverse this deplorable situation.
