Less Sheehan Is Good

My take on the media magnet Cindy Sheehan is basically that she took something worth respecting and did it at a cost too high.

To protest and haver a political agenda is fine, to use your son’s death in a way that discounts his great honor and sacrifice for his nation is a shame.

Does her son really want mom acting as if his life’s choices were wrong, and what he served was misguided?

At what point is her message already-stated and she just becomes a self promoted brand name?

(I removed the other adjective I used for her “branding of herself”, because the first comments below changed the meaning to suit an argument. So as to not be further taken out fo context it is now changed.)

Well one way or another, the world now has a little less Sheehan to listen to.

Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan is being kicked off the Democratic blog Daily Kos because she is considering a challenge to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Sheehan posted a goodbye message Thursday, writing: “I can’t post here anymore because my potential run for Congress is not on the Democratic ticket. I know a lot of you are hostile towards my candidacy.”

Sheehan said earlier this week she would mount an independent campaign against Pelosi if the speaker did not initiate impeachment proceedings against President Bush within two weeks.

Daily Kos is making no apologies. Its Web site clearly states: “It’s not a liberal blog. It’s a Democratic blog with one goal in mind: electoral victory” for the party

    Mr. Kraft,

I found your essay on Ms. Sheehan extremely offensive and worse, just plain wrong.

You should be ashamed of yourself, writing such things as,

“At what point is her message stated and she just becomes a media whore?

Sir, at what point does anyone who feels strongly about a subject and is willing to act on it, anyone who acts on their RIGHTS to protest, to be degraded by you?

Other possible candidates for media whoredom:

    John Adams?
    Emile Zola?
    Eamonn De Velera?
    Ghandi?

Of course, NOT on this list would be:

    Ronald Reagan.

    Ashamed.

What an ass…it takes him three or four paragraphs before he calls her a “whore” behind the propriety of media coinage cliche of course…

a very stupid and banal opinion for pay…typical of that trashy network he works for

She is right next to Al Sharpton, on a good message that dissappeared a long time ago and has become a quest for the publicity to speak it. Her sons honor and sacrifice doesnt give her a free pass for life.

I also think Ann Coulter delivering “controversly lines” makes her one too at times. Even if I agree with the message, only so many ways to repeat it until its lost in the brand your trying to make yourself.

Also Joeseph you see I respected her right to deliver her message and said its “something worth respecting”, so stop trying to make my words something you can protest, and read them all.

When she is in Charlotte today, we expect the counter protestors will outnumber her group. This is not because people think she is wrong, its mostly her image she is trying to market herself with that people have had enough of. Im not the only one that thinks she has played her sons honor a bit too far.

But in my America, I can have my opinion as I respect her right to have hers.

I find much of this offensive: But I will support any Americans right to say stupid things.

“The biggest terrorist in the world is George W. Bush,”

I don’t want him to justify my son’s honorable sacrifice to continue his murderous killing policies

Katrina exposed that clearly he has made America more vulnerable through his policies in Iraq.”

“We’ll be the checks and balances on this out-of-control, criminal government.”

“That lying bastard, George Bush, is taking a five-week vacation in time of war, … tells me why my son died in Iraq. I’ve got the whole month of August off, and so does he.”

“No Iraqis Left Me on a Roof to Die”

“Every time Bush talks he should be removed from office,”

“What our children are dying for is to make their government’s war machine rich,”
