This post was a comment on our other recent Ron Paul related thread. One of our informed readers says it with plenty of common sense.

Will Ron Paul’s ‘Cash on Hand’ Earn Him Credibility?

Will $2.4 million cash on hand at the end of the last quarter earn long-shot presidential candidate Rep. Ron Paul enough credibility to warrant a spot in upcoming presidential debates? It should.

The ABC News Political Radar blog reported today that the nine-term congressman from Texas has $400,000 more cash on hand than his Republican rival Sen. John McCain of Arizona.

Upon reading that news, I had to wonder whether or not groups sponsoring future presidential debates would follow the sad precedent set by Iowans for Tax Relief and Iowa Christian Alliance — co-sponsors of a presidential candidates forum in Des Moines June 30 — and refuse to consider Ron Paul a “credible” candidate.

Any group with even a shred of decency and self-respect must now include Ron Paul in any presidential debate it sponsors — or exclude John McCain, too!

It looks as if McCain discovered the cost of selling us out to illegal immigrants.

Ron paul raises more cash than McCain has on hand because he is loved in the US.

I agree. Ron Paul’s cash flow achievement this past quarter should earn Ron Paul the credibility to secure him a spot in the next debate. Furthermore, an apology from the Iowans for Tax Relief and Iowa Christian Alliance would be the righteous thing for these groups to issue.

Paul’s fundraising should win him credibility, after all, that’s the only thing that wins any of the typical “D” and “R” Power Party candidates credibility. (After all, their “credibility” has nothing to do with all of their track records as mentally-challenged power-lusters who have never voted once with the US Constitution.)

Why create a double standard for Paul? Could it be that the fact that he supports individual freedom make him less credible? If so, that’s a sorry statement implied by the governmentally-distorted mass media. I think I’ll register as Republican and vote for Ron Paul in the Republican Primary.

I hope slobbering power-chasers like McCain get trounced in the Primary by Paul, so they can’t continue to oppose my right to promote my opinion before an election with bogus “campaign finance reform laws” that directly violate the 1st amendment to the US Constitution. And no, I don’t care if McCain once served in the military and took a nice picture of himself standing next to a plane –his ideas are still positively anti-American. I have several friends in the military who have pro-American ideas, so I am far from anti-military. But being pro-military does not mean you get to be against the Bill of Rights and keep my respect. The sooner McCain is shooed out of the spotlight, as unwanted as a large spider on a bathroom floor, the sooner America can debate the real issues, not whether the Bill of Rights is still valid.

One venal and philosophically-confused opponent of freedom financially outpaced, …several more to go! Keep up the great work Dr. Paul!

If I’m not mistaken, Ron Paul was already guaranteed a spot in the upcoming debate. Well, I’m referring to the upcoming televised debate anyway. I read awhile back that his invitation and attendance was confirmed.

Ron Paul was already in the real debate comming up. What i want to know is he going to get “front and center” position and get to hog up all the time, talking out of turn and swaping punches with the other “top tier” guys. Or is he going to be pushed off to the side and ignored like CNN did to him last time. Ron Paul’s message is so simple and he says more in 1/2 the words so it is not like he needs it but top fundraisers are given special treatmebt by the media and debate organizers. Let see if RP gets some top tier love from the media.

Immigration appears to be a wedge issue. I wonder if it can trump the Iraq War in the minds of many fence-sitting Republicans?

Romeny, Giuliani, and Thompson have all trimmed their positions on illegal immigration to fit their audiences.

Maybe it’s time to ask the average Republican voter, “Do you care more about the clear and present danger of losing America to illegal immigration within the next decade — or about the President’s goal of nation-building in Iraq, which he himself admits won’t bear fruit for generations to come?”

Since when dose your pile of cash make you a better canidate? I thought this was America and all you need is good ideas. I’m happy for Dr. Paul he is the only canidate that is not a bought and paid for shill. You’ll also notice that his money comes from grassroots citizens efforts. I think most people in this country are fed up with both parties. This certainly explains Dr. Pauls growing popularity with “main stream Americans.” Besides he’s an OB-GYN that has delivered more than 4000 babies. He would be able to deal with congress as president perfectly, he’s used to CRY BABIES!
