In the Iowa straw poll, “Mitt the money Romney” was expected to win without the main big money competition.

The true race was for second and a show of legitimacy for a second-tier candidate trying to work into the playing-field for good.

Huckabee has sat well with me from the go, though I support Ron Paul when made to choose.

I am not a religious man, but Huckabee’s nature and demeanor are undeniably pleasant and friendly. I loved his convictions at the debates, though i dont agree with many of them.

On pure heart, Mike Huckabee is a top level candidate….but heart doesn’t buy TV spots.

Here is a great online article about how Mike Huckabee stole a bit (but not all) of Ron Paul’s thunder.

“The answer that question is yes…and also no…

See, for all intents and purposes, Saturday was a disappoinment for Ron Paul because Mike Huckabee got the spot where he wanted to be. And not only that, it turns out that Huck was indeed the defacto winner since he spent so little money and placed so high. Again, a spot that Paul desperately needed even though his supporters say 5th place was great for him.

“So why did Huck win?

It wasn’t because he siphoned off Paul’s supporters. There just weren’t enough Iowans to vault Paul to the 2nd place spot.

Instead, look to the social conservatives. You know, the faithful voters who elected George Bush twice. If they didn’t show up in Iowa Huck wouldn’t have had a chance, but he’s been very vocal about his faith and how it would color his presidency. And voters apparently responded.

Yes, it’s going to be a tough road for the GOP next year if the religious right stays home, and Huckabee may be an attractive candidate just for the fact that he can bring them back to the well one more time.”

FACT: The Outstanding Public Debt as of 16 Aug 2007 is: $8.976 trillion. The estimated population of the United States is 302,719,382 so each citizen’s share of this debt is $29,651.52. The National Debt has continued to increase an average of $1.46 billion per day since September 29, 2006!

Shouldn’t this be the MOST DEBATED ISSUE in the Presidential Campaign, along with how to REDUCE government spending?

Why candidates except one push only policies, which further increases government spending?

Who is the only candidate, who is constantly bringing this issue and the solution up?

    Wake up America!

    Go Ron Paul.

The ONLY Candidate who has a passionate grassroots movement of any substance is still Ron Paul.

That’s what sets him apart from any other contender. The GOP needs someone who will pump some life back into it.

Most Republicans I talk to sound completely discouraged, and overall deflated.

I just tell them go with the man with the message. Ron Paul.

With what little attention the established press has given him his popularity has spread like wildfire.

He also stands for a change in policy, something I think is essential to make any Republican candidate viable for the White House in ‘08 with 70+ percent of people wanting something different from what we’re presently doing in Iraq.

The people want something different. I think we’ve all had enough of this. And Ron Paul is just a drastic enough departure from the current administration to win a popular vote for the GOP this coming election.

Ron Paul can win in California and the Northwest.

The Iowa Straw Poll could not have turned out any better if Ron Paul placed higher. He got enough votes to prove his supporters are not just a bunch of internet phantoms. He had a strong show of loyal supporters that came from all over the U.S. And, MOST importantly, we need as man PRO-WAR republicans to stay in this thing until the end to assure the total dilution of the pro-war vote. If Huck and the others had placed well below Ron Paul, it would’ve taken the wind out of their sails, and they might have dropped out. But now, their campaigns have been ‘jump-started’ enough that they may just make it to all the primaries. Ron Paul’s support will grow significantly faster when the primaries are at hand, as people will flock to the internet to find out more about ALL the candidates. So, cross you fingers…pray the Newt, Freddie, lots of other ‘pro-war’ nation-builders join the ranks.

    Hi Michael Kraft,

I really enjoy your posts concerning Ron Paul and I respect your ability to offer details of yet another 2008 option.

However, I must inform you and other readers that Huckabee is a CFR member. His membership to the CFR suggests he supports wourld goverment and the plans for the North American Union.

We have see in the past stolen elections Bush did steal votes in 2004 and it’s documented but this was only brought to my attention a few months ago. Though I voted for Bush I must say the actions bush has taken along the way has caused me to really study the issues.

I also find it very odd that Mike won second place while all the exit polls suggested that Ron Paul won.

Micheal keep up the great work but the next time you interview Mike ask him why he belongs to the CFR which seeks to do our nation great harm.

Also Fred Thompson, Newt are also CFR members and they all work of the same page. So Paul is the only person to vote for. We, also need to work towards banning all diebold vote mahines and return to paper only.

The people must rise up and take action on every front… If you have a chance to meet or see any of those mentioned please ask them the important question.

The fact is the CFR is just as bad as the UN.

In closing thanks for your efforts!

    Hi Darel,
Yeah I heard Huck on the Jeff Katz show on WBT1110 Am in Charlotte this week.

wbt.com you can listen 3pm to 6pm weekdays.

He went right into the questions on immigration and the union. Huckabee danced away from it.

That one issue alone means I would never support him, but doesnt stop me from liking him personally and his debate performances.

Of the 2nd tier hopefuls only Ron Paul and Duncan Hunter would get my “full” support on most issues. Many of the others have good points and are well above any DEM, and I dont want to throw out the baby with the bathwater on any of them.

    Except McCain….what a slimeball.

Dr. Paul spent barely a week in Iowa while Huckabee spent months. Iowa straw poll was definitely a great day for Dr. Paul. Would I have loved to have seen him get second? of course. but i don’t base the campaign on it.

Take heart, Michael. Today is a new day, and Ron Paul just came in THIRD PLACE in the Illinois straw poll, beating Mike Huckabee in a LANDSLIDE.

    Go Ron!

  11. Tannim on August 16th, 2007 10:25 pm

Actually, Paul came in SECOND in Illinois behind MittWit. Freddy Krueger Thompson isn’t a candidate, so he doesn’t count. Rude-y came in behind Paul and everyone else had less than 5%.

Looks like the top tier is Romney, Paul, Thompson, and Guiliani for now…

  12. Tannim on August 16th, 2007 10:25 pm

That’s assuming Thompson ever announces he’s running, BTW…
