I tried to provide a positive other side to the many stories I publish about illegals and crime. I had read good story in La Noticia Newspaper en espanol here in Charlotte.
La Notica is a tiny paper that publishes “news” in Spanish. By amazing coincidence the only news they ever publish is pro amnesty stories.
Actually, if you click the articles link on their site they have 10 click-able articles from 5 separate sections. 7 of 10 are about pro immigration reform issues.
Well I was going to spotlight an article they wrote about an illegal immigrant in Charlotte that pulled a black guy from a fire that was asleep. The black guy then went back to save his kids.
The illegal immigrant had bravely saved lives with his fast action and honorable service to a neighbor.
I had planned on showing this to be fair in all the pro-enforcement stories I have put up, and because it was a good local story.
Unfortunately when I visited their website and began to browse, this story about how enforcement can never work struck me as so biased I couldn’t help but go right to work on it.
If you don’t watch and read Spanish language news then you don’t know the one simple fact, that it is all leftist news.
All Spanish language channels are pro amnesty.
This may seem common sense to you, but isn’t something claiming to be “news” supposed to present all facts?
How is it that 49% of Hispanics in Arizona voted against the DREAM act, but no Spanish language news reported the flaws and unlawfulness of the DREAM act?
How is it that half the Hispanics don’t have ANY source for the moderate views they hold.
Leftists, liberals and democrats love Hispanics and the news en espanol proves this.
There is no US based Spanish news source that presents a well rounded view of the crime of illegal immigration.
I’m not even asking for conservative views, there are not even moderate ones in the Spanish language news.
Even CNN espanol couldn’t wait to interview the criminal Elvira the first night she was available.
I invite them to interview Lou Dobbs and translate that to Spanish for those many Latinos that see the crime of illegal immigration as bad for America.
I can get both sides of the story of the crime of illegal immigration in English, but anyone speaking only Spanish is being bombarded with the idea that they are right to expect citizenship, and that ICE is the enemy of all Latinos and racists.
This also leads the public to think all Latinos stand together, but as shown above and from my personal knowledge, a great percentage of legal Latino families don’t support the actions of illegal immigrants or their demand for citizenship.
Most legal Latinos, and all I know don’t even feel a need for bilingual “everything”, since they have adopted English as the language for best success in the US and worked to learn it.
Anyway, here is the garbage they were spewing in that article that so distracted me. They are discussing enforcement only immigration policies like we now have as law.
“This approach cannot work as an immigration policy. It will have disastrous economic, security, and civil rights consequences. Here are a few examples:
Some businesses may be forced to close when they can’t keep or find affordable labor. Others may simply move off-shore. The impact will be felt in the economic downstream in the processing, shipping, and retailing industries. And the result will be that many native-born workers who depend on those jobs will be hurt.”
The Truth: “some businesses maaaaay be?” And these are businesses that have pocketed the benefits of not paying taxes or benefits for years. They have bought houses and cars with the revenue of their crimes. Any business that may suffer such a setback would have based their business model on crime.
Also, I can’t think of a single business industry that employs illegals that didn’t exist 20 years ago. We have had landscapers, farmers, house builders, contractors and cooks in this country for 50 years. 25 years ago there was 1/10th as many illegals and the economy was booming.
So this is such crap is hard to read with a straight face.
“It’s estimated that 75% of undocumented workers pay Social Security, Medicare, and other federal payroll taxes, enlarging the federal tax coffers by billions of dollars. By the Social Security Administration’s own estimates, it will be a huge revenue hit for the federal government if these workers lose employment.”
The Truth: I would love to see this statistic, and how is it compiled since many work with no records?
Also, any of these people with kids and or making under 30,000 per year…which is 90% of them, would get their money back in a tax return if they really were paying taxes.
How about the earned income credits they would receive for every child they pop out? I think that is about $7000 a pop? All money paid by the few that paid it would be returned twofold in a tax return.
Lastly, all studies have shown the cost of services greatly outweighs the contributions in the form of taxes since the population is mostly low income and with multiple children. Bilingual education, deportation costs, court costs, public school costs, ESL costs, medical assistance, school lunches, translators in courts and hospitals….the “billions” you mention is spent without even trying, and that is IF they paid it, and IF they didn’t get it back in a tax return as most low income families would.
To argue that 10 million lower class families with multiple children is helpful to the economy is just very simple minded.
Any group of 10 million Americans makes the same contributions in the workplace that illegals do, but they also follow the laws, drive with insurance, pay taxes and use less government programs. So, I appreciate all the hard work illegals do, but hard work isn’t a free pass on the law.
Prisoners work hard too in some cases but they don’t get amnesty for making the best license plates.
“As working immigrants are driven off the books and underground, this will put an unbearable stress on state and local law enforcement, detention, and deportation systems. It will make it easier for government abuses to go unchecked.”
The Truth: This is the dumbest thing I have ever read. A “STRESS on state enforcement, detention and deportation system? Government abuses?”
What do we have going on right now?
This what COULD HAPPEN? huh?
I support their right to have an opinion, but this “pretend news” that only shows the side that benefits your readers is not news.
I have bias in my articles, but I write for conservatives to enjoy and liberals to argue with.
This paper pretends to be providing Spanish language community news, but it is really news for illegal immigrants, not Spanish speakers.
Not all stories in La Noticia are about these matters, but Charlotte is one of the fastest growing illegal populations in the country and it is pretty obvious who the readership targets.
I had a young 20 year old girl from Ecuador who is an illegal here as a guest in my house tonight with family. She has a child with an American and has overstayed her visa. I gladly brought water out to the likely illegal landscapers at my office building yesterday in the heat since I speak Spanish and it was damn hot.
I work to unite people even when I disagree with their actions, so I don’t want them being told to divide.
The point is that I truly understand there to be a lot of hard situations, but we don’t need these facts compounded by propaganda in the Spanish language news.
Tell the illegals the facts, which includes that they broke serious US laws.
I think they will be able to “get over” the guilt and still buy your paper. If you wish to pose as news and want to truly serve the “community of Americans” then stop trying to divide the nation.
Legal Hispanic families are Americans. The priority of all Latinos should be the betterment of America not just “tu raza”.
(Now, why don’t I write en Espanol if I want to address Latino audiences? The honest truth is that I have thought to do so, but honestly don’t have the writing skills en Espanol to do so. I learned by immersion and conversation and never studied Spanish in a classroom. There are many words en Espanol I can’t spell but say 20 times a day.)
I invite any person connected to La Noticia in Charlotte to send me the story about the Hispanic man that saved that family about 2 months back in the fire here in Charlotte.
I will happily publish such a positive local story and link to your site.
