Oregon House Aiding Illegals
COMMITTEE DEADLINE PASSES WITH NO ACTION
ON IMMIGRATION REFORM
House Democrats Delay Implementing Real ID Act, Fail to Enact Serious Reforms
As the deadline passes for House committees to consider House measures,
Democrats in the chamber have failed to enact serious immigration reforms this session.
The majority party has buried several bills to strengthen the integrity of Oregon’s citizenship and
residency laws, and have delayed implementing the federal Real ID Act to combat fraud and
identity theft.
“House Democrats will learn that hollow immigration bills do not make up for broken campaign
promises,” said House Republican Leader Wayne Scott (R-Canby).
“House Republicans are prepared to pass serious reforms to secure our drivers licenses, state services and voting rights,
and to demand that state government enforces the laws that are on the books.”
House Republicans challenge the majority party to pass all provisions of the “Sensible Immigration Reform Package” introduced by Rep. Linda Flores (R-Clackamas) and Rep. Kim Thatcher (R-Keizer) in February, including enforcing the Real ID Act and giving law enforcement officers more flexibility in detaining and processing violators of federal immigration laws.
“The Democratic leadership in the House has done nothing to prevent illegal immigrants from gaining access to voter registration and drivers licenses; these are among the top concerns of our constituents,” said Rep. Thatcher, a member of the House Elections and Rules Committee. “Democratic candidates talked a good game about immigration reform during the fall campaign
but have failed to deliver for Oregonians.”

But I guess Oregon doesnt have an illegal immigration problem anyway…..or wait….umm, there is this.
“165 workers were detained to be processed for possible deportation…out of 175 workers total at the Del Monte Plant.”
Looks Like Del Monte is a major campaign contributor?
Must be funding the Mayor too, as he says this in that same article:
“Portland Mayor Tom Potter criticized Tuesday’s raid. The managers’ arrests were understandable, he said, but “to go after local workers who are here to support their families while filling the demands of local businesses for their labor is bad policy.”"
Local workers? Is Honduras a part of Oregon now?
here is the big shocker, Mayor Potter is a 27 year cop, ex police chief and Democrat. The Daily Kos says about him
“ended the bureau’s involvement in INS raids and deportation arrests aimed at Latinos.”
So arrests on Chinese and Irish illegals are still allowed?
I wasnt aware that INS aimed arrests at latinos?
I thought it was at Illegals?
Unless dkosopedia.com is implying that all illegals are latino?
It must be a proud day in Oregon when ignoring the law receives such praise, I hope all the voters have perfectly trimmed lawns and well canned foods….so their efforts are repaid at the cost of American laws.
But then again, illegal immigrants are able to vote in Oregon since Democrats shot down the laws to require ID in order to register to vote.
Maybe we should build that wall around Oregon too?

I am dismayed that so many so-called conservative Americans think that to fight illegal immigration and terror we must promote:
1. A massive increase in government power,
2. An undermining of federalism,
3. An undermining of the 4th amendment,
4. An increased ability to track Americans in real-time,
5. An erosion of the presumption of innocence,
6. A radically increased ability to enforce arbitrary (future) rules,
and
7. Federal approval on whether you and I can earn money.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m all for stemming the tide of illegal immigration. But I don’t want to throw our freedoms into the dump to do it.
There is nothing “conservative” about promoting REAL ID. If you do wish to promote it, please do not talk about your belief in “limited government.”

I thnk enforcing the laws on the books is a basic conservative or better yet American value.
If REAL ID is what Oregon thinks will help their specific situation then they may know best, but in the end….a full efort to enforce laws, deport criminals and go after companies that hire them are values we should all agree upon.
There should be no consideration, rights, protections or benefits given to those knowingly breaking our laws.
The law is pretty clear, and sanctuary violates it.
Again, whatever they want to do to get results is up to them I am not endorsing this means specifically, just the effort to obtain real enforcment.
I agree with working to stem the tide of illegal immigration and promoting legal immigration.
I would disagree that if Oregon affirms REAL ID that “they may know best…” best because REAL ID is a horrible anti-solution to a real problem.
Thanks for your comments elsewhere. I have responded to them.
