tuna-chavez.gifIf you havn’t seen the news from Peru, a fleet of nationalist party trucks were seen handing out tuna cans to the people caught in the awful earthquake this week.

Members of the nationalist party which is headed by Ollanta Humala, who is a Huga Chavez wanna-be, were handing out cans of Tuna with Chavez’s face on the label and slurs against the government of Peru.

The cans of tuna were not just food with a face on the label, but had Chavez and Ollanta Humala on the other side and had the following message written on every can:

(translated from spanish)

“In the face of the natural disaster that shook Peru, and above all our home region of Ica, the Peruvian Nationalist Party, with our leader Ollanta, makes its presence felt, together with our sister Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, whose president is our brother Hugo Chávez, because the Peruvian government is acting in an inefficient manner, slowly and without heart, not caring about the pain of the victims and leaving them at the mercy of hunger, thirst and looting.”

A move that is bordering on an act of war.

The current president and ally to the US Alan Garcia, is one of the few solid friends of the US left in South America and has been at odds with communist/socialist Hugo Chavez from the start of his term.

He got into an exchange over Chavez supplying money and aid to Ollanta Humala in the last very close Peru elections. Garcia accused Chavez of using money and influence in his country to try and affect the government of Peru.

“One has to ask who is behind this,” President Alan Garcia said after a Lima newspaper reported that the polemical tins were being distributed in the quake-ravaged region south of the capital. “This is not the moment to take advantage of the circumstances to make electoral propaganda.”

So when the opportunity arose again, Chavez couldn’t wait to distribute cans of food with communist red labels and a message of hate towards the government of Peru.

He entered the country to supply aid, as did most countries of the region, but on the streets are cans that denouce the government in the country he is aiding.

From Miami Herald:

“The cans carry a red label with the faces of Chávez and Humala on either side of the ”O” logo for Humala’s Nationalist Party. Expreso reported the can also carried the following message in Spanish:

A Nationalist Party statement issued Monday denied any role in the case, blamed it on a ”weak and cowardly” campaign to damage its image and demanded an “immediate investigation.”

President Alan García said he does not believe that Humala was responsible for the cans, but Peruvian journalists said it’s possible that supporters of Humala or Chávez in the quake-hit region could have put the labels on the cans.”

Assuming that it was local supporters of Chavez that did this on their own and independent of El commendante, then who paid for this very expensive process of labeling and designing these cans?

Seems far fetched that some local group did this without the backing of perhaps a ’suitcase full of cash’ from some outside source?

Chavez, of course has blamed it on his opposition for planning this secret elaborate scheme to make him look bad in the middle of 500 dead in an earthquake. He asserts that in the midst of 500 dead and the city in ruins, opposition stopped everything to create a plan to make a president from 1500 miles away look bad.

Expreso reported the tuna cans were handed out from Nationalist Party trucks in the cities most affected by the quake, including Pisco, Ica, Chincha and Cañete.
