Ron Paul & Social Issues
John Lofton, editor of The American View and Recovering Republican recently interviewed Presidential candidate Ron Paul. The following is a recap of several topics of the interview:
From earnedmedia.org.
Ron Pual is a true conservative to the letter and the right direction for America.
“God, the Bible and Civil Government. Paul agrees it is not the role of civil government, at any level — Federal, state or local — to feed, house, clothe or educate anybody and that this would also be un-Constitutional. He believes Scripture is God’s Word and thus inerrant and infallible. He says: “Defiance of God’s Law will eventually bring havoc to a society.” He believes our country came together by God’s Providence “just as, Providentially, it may end, by God’s Will.”
Abortion. Yes, Paul thinks abortion is murder but there is a difference between taking a so-called “morning after pill” and a person committing “the horrible murder when you see someone lying in the floor and someone takes a gun and puts it to their head. I don’t equate those and don’t expect the law or juries to treat them exactly alike.” He says, however, he lacks the wisdom to say what the penalty ought to be for abortionists or those getting abortions.
Homosexuality and the Military. Is homosexuality a sin? Paul says he’s “not as judgmental about that probably because of my medical background. I don’t see it in [such] simplistic terms. I think it’s a complex issue to think it’s a sin or other problems with the way people are born. It’s too complex to give an answer as simple as that [that homosexuality is a sin.]”
The Draft. Re: the possibility of a draft, Paul says his son just got a notice about his 14-year-old child saying that the “No Child Left Behind” law (pushed through Congress by President Bush and Sen. Edward Kennedy) requires that this child is to be notified and sign or not sign up for Selective Service at the age of 14.
Other Issues. In our interview, Paul also discusses: Why he stays in the Republican Party; allegations he’s voted for so-called “ear-marks,” pork barrel projects for his district; the possibility of President Bush being impeached; and illegal immigration.”

John Lofton, Recovering Republican
Hi John thanks for the great content and I hope it brings you visits and a wider audience.
Dr. Ron Paul Continues to amaze me!
One Month ago my then 17 year old son tuned me in to Dr. Paul’s message and I have not been the same since.
For the last 30 days I have been a youtube fanatic, watching many presentations on Dr.Paul, 911 information that I never knew existed and many other interesting and informative videos and blogs.
I have always idly sat by while the political process proceeded. I watched Baseball and Football, I watched rental videos, went fishing and out to dinners with my wife and children.
The reason I have never been involved in the political process, as I have just come to realise is the simple fact that no candidate has ever expressed views that I felt represented my views and the views of the people who I know in my everyday life.
I never really new what the “old ” republican party stood for until Dr.Paul educated me.
I urge everyone who reads this to drop whatever party affiliations you may have and listen to what Dr. Ron Paul has to say.
Forget all of your preconcieved notions of left or right .
Let your intellectual side be your guide.
Let your knowledge of right and wrong be your guide.
Remember that everyone can vote in the primaries. If enough democrats went to each end every republican primary we would be able to vote in Dr. Ron Paul as the republican candidate. Then our choice would be between two candidates that support our immediate exit from Iraq.
My son turned 18 on Sept. 5th, he spent his birthday in bootcamp at Fort Jackson SC.
he graduates on Oct. 5th then he will spend 7 months in advanced technical training.
That gives me 8 months before I have to start worrying about a knock coming to my door to tell me that something horrible has happened.
I believe that Dr. paul is the best hope for our country.
