Common Sense For City Counsil
News 14 provides a nice brief overview of the candidates for Charlotte City Counsil. The election is to take place in a couple of weeks and charlotte has a chance to abandon the pie in the sky promises and choose a candidate that addresses the common sense actual issues. The responses on this page are padded with liberal fluff and bland non-specific statements of intent.
We are happy to see the understudy of our own Sue Myrick actual specify real issues that he will address and represent charlotte for. Uncontrolled spending, crime and gang violence and illegal immigrants abusing our county are truly the three main problems in charlotte.
We are happy to say that David Romero specifically addresses each of these issues as his primary goals of office. Have we not all been waiting for candidates that don’t dance around the issues we see everyday? Your vote is what they want in return for their effort to speak clearly and openly.
David Romero

What are your top 3 priorities?
Crime – assisting local law enforcement with a voice in the legislature and in the community. Allowing them to be aggressive and fulfill their duties more effectively.
Illegal Immigration – Helping local officials began a plan to discourage illegal immigrants from choosing Charlotte-Mecklenburg as their home. Charlotte needs to adopt a Zero Tolerance Policy against illegal immigration.
Fiscal Accountability – Prioritizing how and where the city spends money. Make sure departments and other recipients can validate need by providing evidence based results. The city must reward areas that provide expected outcomes and reduce those that do not live up to expectations.
Compare this common sense and law abiding approach to our city with the liberal vagueness of our own Susan Burgess. You have seen how conservative David Romero is true to the wants of the community. He does not let his ethnicity, neighborhood or party affiliation cloud the common sense and desire to serve all of charlotte as a representative. No need to pad answers, when speaking ‘our minds’ for us is the most desirable trait in any candidate.
How could the personal endorsement of Sue Myrick not bring integrity to the timeclock?
Now for Sue Burgess:
What are your top 3 priorities?
Community Safety, Transportation and Managing Growth to protect environment and quality of life.
(I think she just said, light rial trains and global warming is what Charlotte needs?)
If elected, what is the biggest issue facing your constituents over the next term?
Managing growth and protecting the quality of life that attracted our new neighbors here to begin with. We must keep our community safe and improve every neighborhood.
(I think she just said, keeping everything as great as it is now!)
Huh? does this sound like avoiding the question and a promise to pretty much change nothing, it does to me.
“and improve every neighborhood!”.
(And everyone gets $5 and a twinkie on Tuesday? Way to tackle the issues!)
I then visit the website of Anthony Foxx and I get the following message on the homepage:
““Putting Charlotte first means meeting our public safety needs with more police officers and improving our roads. Putting Charlotte first means solving these and other problems, not creating even more problems by waiting. Putting Charlotte first means expanding opportunity to all corners of Charlotte, not limiting opportunity to certain areas. By doing so, we can expand job growth, increase homeownership even more and strengthen neighborhoods in decline. In the long run, expanding opportunity will result in lower crime rates, a wider city tax base and a climate in which real property tax rate decreases are possible. Finally, putting Charlotte first means being accountable to every citizen, giving city government back to regular people again.” ”
The entire pitch sounded like 10 ways to say welfare and government spending. If you want a candidate that will work hard to give themselves more to spend and more people to give entitlements to, look no further than a Democrat. if you want all goals and no idea how to get there…..find a liberal.
More government and welfare style approaches never solve anything, they only buy votes and stall the real issues.
What is more, for anyone that think this is the type of thinking that should guide our city, please read Mr. Foxx’s response to the Mayor calling out the New Years violence and the largely Black arrests made that day
“Pat McCrory’s comments last week chiding primarily African American young people for mimicking “gangster” behavior exposed a community divided on issues of race, class and crime……..Second, kids all over Charlotte engage in dangerous negative attitudes, behaviors and actions. Stigmatizing them is just as dangerous.”
Mr Foxx says that the Mayor calling a hoodlum a hoodlum is “just as dangerous” as the behaviors and actions themselves?
can we not have enough common sense in government to stop lying to itself.
These kids get false leaders like Jesse Jackson that throw their arms around kids who beat other students and provide no cure for this ignorance. We all see the problems, we see the kids, we see the attitude and the parents failing them…..if we could shelf the political correctness for a few years we make some real progress in helping communities.
Liberals telling these kids “it’s not your fault” is the guarantee that this behavior will never end. Do I really have to link to the Bill Cosby speech as a wake up call for common sense.
Please charlotte vote against this diaper-changing attitude and put common sense in charge. We all see the issues around us, now we need to be accurately represented, not fed a line of politically correct nothings.
Visit news 14 and see the complete answers of the candidates.
Decide if you want a candidate that has specifically called-out the issues we all see, or a candidate that is promoting only a continuation of the current infrastructure, PC dribble and ineffectiveness.
David Romero is our choice for real specific common sense addressing of the issue in Charlotte.
11/06/2007 GENERAL ELECTION
Make sure you are ready to address specific issues in Charlotte by voting for those that call them by name.
Crime, illegal immigration, taxes and unchecked spending.
