Rafael Zartha CL Article
I today landed on an old Creative Loafing page which has an “article” by the editor of the Spanish language “newspaper” El Gente, which means “my people”.
In the article, Rafael Prieto Zartha is commenting on a cartoon mocking Pat McCrory for inquiring about the legal status of illegal immigrants hiding in Charlotte.
We will not refer to them as “undocumented people” like these pro-illegal groups do.
These people are not undocumented, since they have foreign and/or Mexican birth certificates, drivers licenses and ID cards. These people are documented in their country, but this is not their country.
“……A recent Kevin Siers cartoon in the Charlotte Observer said more than a million words. In it, an undocumented injured person lay on the ground. Meanwhile, a well-dressed Mayor Pat McCrory Mirandizes the man: “An immigrant victim of crime? You have the right to remain silent about this mugging! If ………..
……..This story began in mid-May when a kind ice cream vendor, Eder Lucero Cubillas, was robbed at gunpoint by two felons. The thieves took $60, a day’s earnings for the 23-year-old merchant born in the turbulent Mexican state of Chiapas. Lucero Cubillas contacted the police to report the robbery, but the officer in charge decided to focus her interview on his immigration status…….”
Mr. Rafael Prieto Zartha does not explain what “focus her interview” means exactly?
Would common sense not suggest that the officer asked the victim for ID upon arriving at the scene, which is normal procedure? And if the person has no ID, would common sense not inspire further investigation of why?
“…..More than 500 robberies of Latinos were reported that year in Charlotte. It was open season against undocumented immigrants, who also suffered home invasions….”
Mr. Rafael Prieto Zartha leaves out the very important fact that victims and the criminals are in many cases the same race. Perhaps it is open season for illegal immigrant burglars as well?
Home invasions happen in my neighborhood too but the police do not do more or less based on the race of the victim, perhaps he should be doing more research on the race of the criminals.
“…………When 21 percent of burglaries in the city were committed against Hispanics, CMPD encouraged victims of crimes to report incidents, despite their immigration status…….”
I’m not sure how 21% means open season on illegal immigrants?
Mr. Rafael Prieto Zartha is trying to equate Hispanics with Illegal immigrants, this is what liberal race groups do to try and justify the crimes of illegals. My family is a Hispanic immigrant family, which is different from illegal immigrants. My family followed the rules, stood in line and showed respect for American’s by observing their rules.
Hispanic does not equal illegal immigrant. Why am I telling you this sir? These two things have no connection as much as you want to pretend they do in an attempt to play a race card.
Race and law are in no way connected, those who break immigration laws of any nationality are criminals, so your statistics have no connection to an “illegal immigration” discussion.
Mr. Rafael Prieto Zartha also does not mention that almost 21% of the jail inmates in NC are Hispanic as well, which supports the idea that 21% of criminals victimize 21% of crimes against Hispanics. These crimes happen in illegal immigrant communities against illegal immigrants and often by illegal immigrants.
This graph shows the next generation following the same trend. This chart only has black vs. white, but you’ll notice that 21% is missing.
Also. as shown here break-in are directly linked to income levels. Poor neighborhoods have more break-ins, so if neighborhoods of illegal immigrants have higher rates that is easily shown to have nothing to do with race but everything to do with income level and neighborhood quality.
We know of course that pro-illegal immigrants groups need to make everything about race because there is no other way to defend breaking American laws.
Does it matter who is in prison or what race they are? No it does not. A criminal of any race is a criminal.
But Mr. Zartha is trying so hard to paint illegal immigrants as victims, and honest legal Americans as the problem, that I thought he should take a step into reality.
Crying “victim!” is easier than seeing your problem is a result of the crimes illegal immigrants broke in the first place.
When you make your home amongst those who break US laws, why act surprised when it doesn’t end there?
“”I’m not sure an apology was warranted,” McCrory said, affirming that he has philosophical differences of opinion with the police chief, and that the mayor and city council shall set the policy of checking the immigration status of crime victims.
It seems McCrory has not even listened to the chairman of his own Immigration Study Commission, Alan Gordon, who has a logical answer to the question, “Why don’t they just get legal?”"
One could also ask the logical question, why do they break US laws and expect it to be rewarded?
Break the law and win a prize! That’s liberal thinking.
I heard a member of the Charlotte Mecklenburg school board on WBT this past week. He estimated about 18,000 Hispanic students in the Charlotte Mecklenburg school system, and then stated that maybe 12,000 of them have no social security number.
Of course he was just guessing since the tax payer funded school are “not allowed” to ask why they have no identification.
Is there going to be an apology issued from these 12,000 criminals?
Will there be 12,000 letters of apology to the Mayor for coming to this city illegally and using the resources that he must find a means to pay for?
Will there be an apology to my children when they have to be educated in a mobile classroom in the parking lot because 12,000 seats are filled by those who come here illegally?
Rafael Zartha forgets that illegal immigrants are not the victims of illegal immigration,
Americans are.
“I’m certain the ice cream vendor wishes to “just get legal” and work within the system. After all, he called the police. He dialed 911.
But we — as a city and a culture — failed him.”
Sir, I am going to dial 911, and tell them I just saw 30 illegal immigrants working at IHOP. The police won’t lift a finger to enforce this US law on my behalf.
That is a city and police force failing me.
Rafael Prieto Zartha puts his race ahead of the laws of his city and laws of the country that is his home. To put your race ahead of America is seperationism and destroys unity in our country for your own race’s gain.
To put your own race ahead of laws, that sir is racism.
“Mi Gente” for me is ALL American’s equally, not just the ones that are the same race as I am. This is the idea that makes America great, and why this dividing that liberal advocacy groups do is such a destructive force.
