Defense Minister Raul Isaias Baduel today called for the people of Venezuela and the military to reject the changes to the constitution of their country and to defend the students in the streets being injured and killed by Chavez ordered military and police.

Yesterday two students were killed while marching, one of which was a student leader of an opposition group in a Venezuelan University.

What happens to a legend and hero of the country if you disagree with the presidents attempts to remain leader for life?

Well the one party system and the state owned TV stations call you a traitor, NYTimes:
“Similarly, the president’s loyalists, including leaders of the National Assembly and former military commanders, reacted harshly to General Baduel’s comments, describing him in treasonous terms for breaking with Mr. Chávez on such a crucial issue. “He is a traitor and the people here disown traitors,” said Cilia Flores, president of the National Assembly.

So What does Chavez say when one of his long time friends and top advisors tells the world of his desire to rule a communist Venezuela for life?

Well he does what he always does and says Baduel is working for the Imperialists (George Bush), and it is their fault there is violence in the streets.

“Para Chávez, detrás del pronunciamiento de Baduel está el imperialismo y la extrema derecha. “Ha pasado a ser un peón de ese juego, de un plan que pretende llenar de violencia las calles de Venezuela”, declaró el Presidente.”

(Essentially he says Baduel is working together with George Bush to make fake violence in the street and overthrow him.)

Thankfully his followers are so ignorant to common sense that they will be angry at “imperialistas” for inspiring students to protest the end of Democracy in Venezuela.

You see, in the fake revolution, all the problems, crime, inflation, protests and violence are caused by George Bush. This is the dillusion which is Chavezuela.

“The proposals also give authorities sweeping powers if a national emergency is declared, including detention without charges and controls on the news media. The plan has also been condemned by Venezuela’s opposition parties, human rights groups and the Roman Catholic Church. They accuse Mr. Chavez of attempting to follow in the footsteps of his mentor, Cuban leader Fidel Castro, by trying to stay in power for life through the new constitution. “

There is no doubt the sole goal of this “reform” is to stay ‘king’ of Venezuela for life. Chavez has padded the reform with other “important” constitutional issues like a 6 hour workday for everybody.

In true leftist fashion he is attempting to buy the votes of the poor with these unrelated changes that will help gain the majority and make him ruler for life in a military run state. Today they even proposed to break this vote into two seperate ‘voting batches’, so he can put the term limit issue in with all the most popular other issues and assure his rule for life.

“While the autocrat (Chavez) entertains narcoterrorist leader from the FARC Rodrigo Granda, who was captured in Venezuela in late 2004, and ‘mediates’ in the liberation of Ingrid Betancourt, former Minister of Defence Gral. Raul Baduel called a press conference and announced that Chavez’s proposed constitutional reform amounts to a coup d’etat. This, coming from the man who almost singlehandedly brought Chavez back to power in 2002, has been interpreted by most as ultimate proof of the serious issues within chavismo.”

Baduel is a folk hero in Venezuela and in Chavez-cricles because he led the fight in 2002 to defend Chavez from the coup. This is the coup that Chavez says was funded by George Bush.

The man who saves Chavez from “George Bush”, Chavez now says is working with him to make trouble.

You can believe that, or you can believe Baduel knows Chavez is a corrupt dictator and he just told the world, leaving Chavez to try and make excuses.

Which sounds more based in reality to you?

Baduel is Chavez’s #1 opponant of the US, and outspoken to his intents over the years. Read this 2005 article where he discusses the US’s evil intentions against Venezuela.

Does that sound like a man who suddenly is working with George Bush to make fake protests?
It is pretty clear how lost in his own make believe Hugo Chavez’s fake revolution is to come up with that as an excuse for being outed as a dictator by his own right hand man.

And here Baduel is again loyally defending Chavez’s purchase of 100,000 assault rifles with his oil money to US charges of an arms race.

(want to see some of the new owners of those rifles? Watch carefully in the background of these Chavez supporters)

So Chavez says this guy is suddenly a trouble-maker and a traitor?

Baduel had nothing to gain from speaking the truth, he was a legend and hero in Venezuela. He will now be called traitor and likely jailed for speaking the truth, because that is what happens to those who oppose the dictator in this fake “socialism”.

If not true, why would he speak out….he had nothing to gain.
