The local illegal immigrant advocacy newspaper, La Noticia is currently running an interview with Police Chief Darrel Stephens.

Darrel Stephens is hired by residents of Charlotte to enforce US and North Carolina laws. In the interview he makes it very clear that he chooses not to enforce laws, and apparently thinks he is working in Washington DC, when he says he won’t enforce the laws until congress changes them.

I for one am not sure when it became his job to change laws so he doesn’t have to do his job?

The only good news is the fact stated in the article that “police” Chief Darrel Stephens will be resigning his job so Charlotte has a chance of getting some laws enforced in the future.

The article asks what he think of Mayor Pat McCrory encouraging oficers to make more arrests on illegal immigrants working illegally in Charlotte.

Te chief responds: “..many people think that with the information on legal status available something can be done, but the reality is that not it can…”

Well, I am glad to know the city pays someone who has already quit and won’t even be trying.

We pay you to try to enforce all laws, not to enforce ONLY laws that reflect your minority personal views.

You are welcome to give all illegal immigrants a hug, just do it after you drop them off at INS like you are overpaid to do.

Some incredible police work… The law is hard to do, so we won’t do it.

I would be curious to know how hard he would work if his car got stolen, or his identity got stolen by illegal immigrants like my inlaws have had happen twice here in Charlotte.

I bet the “chief” would find the energy to do his job then.

My legal hispanic father-in-law had his ID stolen so an illegal immigrant could get cable in his apartment.

He even got the premium package with “expanded-language” pack. So we have the address of the service which is the exact location of the identity thief and illegal immigrant criminal destroying the credit of a legal Hispanic immigrant.

CMPD tells me they really don’t send a car to the address in situations like this and I should just use the police report to fix his credit.

Another quitter, another paid law enforcement officer doing exactly what his boss does to enforce laws….nothing.

I have two siblings that are police officers. I am happy to say they are both Shrieff’s department deputies, which means they actual help enforce US immigration laws.

The paper also asks the chief about his support for the 287g program, which deports illegal immigrants that are already in jail for crimes. As you may know, advocates for illegal immigration like La Notica think it is racism and profiling to try to deport people in jail for felonies.

Darrel Stephens does say he supports the 287g program though he tries to balance it’s common sense and effectiveness with the “feelings” of the community that it is racial profiling.

The chief says in the interview that people pulled over for having no license or insuance will generally just get a citation.

A person with no ID won’t have their legal staus investigated in most cases and its up to the officer to decide.

It is important to consider that a citation to an illegal and undocumented person equates to nothing. A person with no social security number or US ID will not and does not show up for court or pay fines. This type of citation would be a penalty to an American operating with no license, but to an illegal immigrant it is yet another free pass to break the law.

Also, we must assume the name given is even real since no ID or false ID is generally produced. The sharp rise in illegal immigrants is a lare contributor to the rise in identity theft nation wide. As I have pointed out, my ispanic inlaws have had their ID stolen and credit abused twice since moving here 5 years ago from South America.

If you have no ID and no social securioty number it is common sense law enforcement to question why that is. If you are of legal status then the delay you incur is your own fault for driving with no license.

If a person with no ID and no social security number turns out to be legal even 1 time out of 10, I will eat my hat.
