Google’s Subtle Messages on Olympics

By on August 1, 2012

The Google Doodle Field Hockey Player, and the actual US Women’s field hockey team.

The Black Player in light blue and yellow?

Below: The “not a single black player plays field hockey” reality wearing red, white and blue.

So Just month’s after Google gave us the VValentine’s Message supporting Gay Marriage, or not supporting but chipping away by trying to declare it normal in their opinion. Well, they are back with another reality of today.

Many will respond that I am splitting hairs, or “why does this matter?”, well I hope they take the time to ask themselves, if it doesn’t matter than why does Google make this conscious decision?

I have seen TV ads with the family waiting for the returning veteran getting of a bus, and it seems it is always a female veteran returning while dad waits with the kids. This is great and normal in my eyes, but it only represents about 2% of all real scenarios. So why always try to over-spin the political correctness? Is there something wrong with reality that it should be ignored when beaming images into the heads of people who receive the subtle message?

Couple this with the fact that VISA gives us the Olympic Motto of “go World!”, and that Allstate and Bud Light are the official sponsor of the Mexican National Soccer Team, WHILE they were playing in California Vs the US team.

Lets repeat that, US vs Mexico in National Team Soccer in California in 2011, and Bud Light, Allstate and Coke were all sponsors of the “other” team.

Well along these lines of loss of reality to companies tied closely to politics, the desire to look liberal and the ability to ignore reality, patriotism and plain facts we have this Google Doodle of today August 12t, 2012.

The depiction of a Olympic Field Hockey Player. The player is not dressed in Americas Colors but in the colors of another country. Then we go further into the depths of political correctness with the fact that the player is black apparently, which as you see from the photo, not a single US player is black, nor do they wear Light Blue and Yellow.

Whether it because Im a man, a white man, a straight man or simply a proud America I can;t help but see the entire push to make all 4 of those things unpopular.
For those who think it silly, it may be silly….but why does an American Company use the colors of other nations and a player that is clearly the 1% demographic of field hockey players nationwide to depict their model?

Silly, ok..but ask them why it matters when they drew it up that way.
